Experiment Summary

Although I had been exposed to some photography before, the actual shooting was different from what I thought it would be. First of all, because I had a preconceived idea of what I wanted to achieve before the shoot, I couldn't always get what I expected when I actually shot it.The second thing was that some of the props were also more complicated to prepare than I thought they would be. This is because the props are not necessarily required to be as perfect as the objects in the installation, as long as they can be represented during the shoot. Conversely, objects that look good in reality don't necessarily look good in photographs.

I did not do a lot of location shooting for this shoot but chose to shoot indoors. Indoor light is different from outdoor light, which is often not as soft as outdoor light and is made up of lights or sunlight coming through windows. I used flash for most of the shots after many attempts.This fits in with my theme of books, which has something of a vintage feel, and also makes the light look more focused on the items being photographed.

If I had more time I think I would have experimented more with angles so that not only could I show the object from multiple perspectives, but it would also have made the final presentation more interesting.
